Invasive Plant Species

Invasive plant species in our suburbs

(which we must remove)

The community cleaners are actively busy cleaning up the parks in our suburbs as well as maintaining them.  This includes removing various category 1 invasive plant species, which, by law, must be controlled and wherever possible, removed and destroyed.

Each month we will highlight one category 1 invasive plant species that is common in our area and advice you of the most effective way to remove it.

We urge you to check your gardens for any species we list on our website and to please be responsible and remove these from your gardens no matter how pretty you may think they are.

Invasive plants are plants that have been introduced into new areas where they have colonised or invaded their new home, threatening biological diversity, ecosystems, habitats, water security and human wellbeing.
